Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy Supervision or Case Consultation

Dr. Jamie M. Joseph is a Post-Doctoral Fellow and Supervisor trained by the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. She completed The Albert Ellis Institute’s Pre-Doctoral Internship and Post-Doctoral Fellowship Programs and went on to become a Staff Therapist at the Albert Ellis Institute. Presently, she is credentialed as a Supervising Psychologist by the Albert Ellis Institute.

Reading from the plethora of books and articles on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy is the first step for a therapist to learn the mechanics of this form of therapy and understand and apply the REBT theory of emotional disturbance and change. Next, supervision and consultation on the use of the REBT theory with your actual clients is paramount to learning how to apply the ABC model to a wide range of clinical issues; identify, challenge and dispute clients’ dysfunctional thoughts; construct and teach clients how to have new adaptive thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Reading about how to ‘do’ Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy is one thing. However, actually ‘doing’ Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and developing it as an art of your therapeutic style is more challenging and requires direct training and supervision.

Dr. Jamie M. Joseph is available for case consultation to assist you in using REBT in your practice with clients. Sessions can be conducted via telephone, WeCounsel (secure HIPAA Compliant video platform) or in person. Dr. Joseph can help you make the jump from ‘reading’ about Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy to actually ‘conducting’ Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy in your practice.
REBT is an action-oriented psychotherapy that teaches individuals to examine their own thoughts, beliefs and actions and replace those that are self-defeating with more life-enhancing alternatives. Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is a pioneering form of cognitive behavior therapy that was developed in 1955 by Albert Ellis, Ph.D., who is widely recognized as one of the most influential psychologists in modern history. Dr. Ellis was a mentor, teacher, supervisor and philosophical advisor to Dr. Joseph, who had the wonderful experience and opportunity to train and work with him at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City.
